Director, Financial Integrations (Winnipeg, MB)

To support our growing business and strategic plan, we are currently seeking a Director, Financial Integrations to join our high-performing Finance team in our in Winnipeg, Manitoba head office.

As a key member of our Corporate Finance team, you will work closely with various departments and newly acquired entities to lead our financial integration process. You are enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and are known to roll up your sleeves to go beyond expectations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with various teams (Corporate Development, Corporate Finance, Group Solutions Finance, Legal/ Compliance, Operations) to obtain a thorough understanding of the Company’s policies, processes, and procedures
  • Accountable for leading the financial integration process for newly acquired entities, including the following:
    • Working collaboratively with the Corporate Development team prior to the close of an acquisition to understand the business and the details of the transaction
      • Documenting an assessment of accounting related gaps uncovered during due diligence, such as accrual vs. cash basis accounting, ASPE vs. IFRS, principal vs. agent and preparing a plan on how to address post-close
      • Developing and mobilizing a resourcing plan to ensure adequate staffing is in place such that there will be a smooth transition of responsibilities post-close
    • Upon the close of the acquisition, meeting with the relevant stakeholders to obtain a complete and thorough understanding of the processes, policies, and procedures of newly acquired entities
    • Leading the financial integration process post-close
      • Working with the Corporate Controller and Director of Finance Systems for systems integration, including setting up chart of accounts, migrating source data between systems, obtaining an opening balance sheet, and facilitating necessary systems access
      • Collaborating with Manager of Financial Reporting for purchase price accounting
      • Coordinating with Group Solutions Finance on transactional-related items, such as working capital settlement and other deal measurement items
      • Accountable for integrating and transitioning the finance and accounting responsibilities with the necessary teams (Revenue/ Receivables, Expenses/ Payables, Taxation Compliance, Treasury, Payroll, Financial Reporting, Operations)

Core Qualifications

  • Recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or equivalent
  • 5-7+ years of progressive experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with specific relevant experience in acquisition and financial integration activities preferred
  • Solid understanding of controls and risks as they relate to finance systems and accounting processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced and high-growth environment
  • Experience with accounting software (SAGE 300) is an asset
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including being able to work effectively with stakeholders across the organization with various backgrounds
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • Skilled in time management and the ability to prioritize tasks
